Power BI and reporting training

From a manually maintained reporting spreadsheet to a Power BI dashboard that refreshes itself. For teams who want to actually understand Power Query and DAX, not just click through a demo.

Audience and level

Controlling, reporting teams, and business units with Excel experience who want to build their first Power BI dashboards or understand existing ones. No coding experience needed, DAX basics are explained.

Duration and format

Typically 1 to 2 days. Day 1: data model, Power Query, relationships. Day 2: DAX metrics, visuals, publishing and refresh. Remote with a second monitor or in-house, 4 to 10 participants recommended.

Sample agenda (2 days)

  • Day 1 morning: Connect data sources, Power Query as the ETL layer
  • Day 1 afternoon: Star schema instead of Excel copy-paste thinking
  • Day 2 morning: DAX basics, measures instead of calculated columns
  • Day 2 afternoon: Visuals, report pages, planning refresh

Typical issues we address

Power BI often gets used like Excel with nicer charts: one giant flat data model, measures built as calculated columns, a refresh nobody understands. We build a model that stays maintainable from day one.

Briefly describe which reports are still maintained by hand today. I will suggest 1 or 2 suitable days.
